Class 03
God's Will or My Will Part Two
So, you want to follow God, but what exactly does He want you to do? What does it look like to truly follow God in this world? Is it just going to church on Sunday and reading the Bible? Or is there something more?
In this introductory BKC Discipleship class, God’s Will or My Will? Part 2 , we teach and discuss the true will of God for our lives. Of course, God's will for each of our lives is unique and specific, but there are important commands in the Bible for all of us to follow as Christians. In Matthew 28:19-20, it says "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you…" God wants us to first become a true disciple and then make disciples.
So what would keep me from becoming a true disciple? In this lesson, we will also expose the common traps of the enemy that keep us from God's will. We will discuss the temptations that so easily hinder us such as comfort zones, avoiding suffering, pride, fear, distraction, offense, and more. In John 16:33, Jesus said, "...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Jesus also promised that if we truly follow Him we will face trial, persecution, and many obstacles in this life. This is the opposite of what we are taught in many churches today. We as Christians have misunderstood the Gospel to be about us, what we want, and what we desire, but this is far from the truth of the Bible. Following God is about following His Will, not our own. It will not be an easy road, but it will lead to the greatest reward.
In ‘God’s Will or My Will? Part 2’, we will break down common misunderstandings and shed light on the real choice we have before us. It's either God's way, or our own way. What will we choose?
